Update on Water Discoloration

February 19, 2026

SJCWSC Members,

Over the past two months, we have been conducting maintenance and repairs on our elevated tower. During this time, engineers working on the project experienced difficulty balancing the system while the well was offline. Last week, when the well returned to service, changes in flow and pressure temporarily disturbed mineral sediment within portions of the distribution system.

As a result, some customers have noticed discoloration or odor in their water. This is caused by elevated levels of naturally occurring iron and magnesium. While this may affect the appearance and smell of the water, it is not harmful.

We have conducted multiple water quality tests, including testing for coliform bacteria, and all results have come back clear and in compliance with state standards. We will continue taking samples and monitoring the system closely.

Our team has been working around the clock to flush lines and stabilize the system, and we will continue these efforts until conditions return to normal. We sincerely appreciate those who have contacted our office to report concerns, as this helps us respond more effectively.

Moving forward, we recognize the importance of providing timely updates during system changes and maintenance projects. We are committed to improving communication so that customers are better informed of potential impacts in the future.

If you experienced staining on laundry due to discoloration, we do have a limited supply of cleaning solution available at our office and will be ordering additional supply as needed.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and appreciate your patience as we resolve the issue.

Sincerely,

SJCWSC Team
